So you upgraded your operatories with the latest and greatest Adec or Marus chair, and moved the old ones out. Now what? They move to a storage location where they sit and wait. However, you can bypass the storage altogether and donate the chairs and equipment to a worthy cause in a win-win scenario.
Then another issue arises — the small, grassroots, volunteer based cash strapped organization they are, the charity has limited storage and cannot accept the equipment. Or they don’t have the need for the equipment you have to offer.
Enter Atlas.
Follow these easy steps below and you can help the non-profit of your choice without burdening them with high storage costs or unusable equipment while providing them with much needed discretionary funds to aid their efforts. Remember to fill out a free value estimate form and put ‘donation’ in the description when you’re ready to help.
1. Determine the organization you’d like to donate to: There’s numerous groups out there supporting humanitarian missions around the globe. Perhaps you have a particular religious affiliation, belong to a Rotary group or trade association involved in philanthropy. If you don’t have a group in mind Atlas works with a few charities including Genesis World Mission, St. Vincent de Paul and Charity Anywhere. We can arrange to have the proceeds of your donated equipment dispensed on their behalf.
2. Get a complete and accurate manifest of the equipment you intend to donate: This step is crucial if you are looking for any sort of tax write-off. We provide the charity with the necessary appraisal for you to present to the IRS if requested. We do have a supplemental item sheet included with each contract which helps guide the creation of a manifest.
3. Schedule a pickup. We arrange the logistics of the donation; from pickup to storage and all shipping related to the sale of the equipment. Whether you have just a couple of Pelton & Crane LFC Lights, or a truckload of Midmark M9 autoclaves, Adec 1622 stools, Adec 1040 Patient chairs, and a couple of Gendex Intraoral X-Rays. We have a wide network of competent and capable logistics partners that can get the job done in any region of the United States.
4. The charity gets paid. After the equipment has sold, Atlas will issue a consignment check to the Charity putting discretionary funds into their account to help further their mission. Make sure you receive some sort of receipt or in-kind donation form from the charity directly for tax purposes.
